Children’s Residential Homes Manager

Employer: Wokingham Borough Council

Salary: £59,009 – £64,673 per annum plus benefits

Location: Shute End, Wokingham (and multiple locations around Wokingham)

Contract: Permanent

Working Pattern: Full Time

Hours: 37 hours per week

DBS Check: Enhanced

Responsibilities

Lead and manage our brand‑new, multi‑building residential home(s). Oversee day‑to‑day operations and ensure the provision of a professional, children‑ and young‑people‑centred service, consistent with regulations, legislation, codes of practice and policy.

Establish and embed the new Children’s Homes, develop existing and new staff through leadership and coaching, and provide mentoring for the team and children.

Drive the shaping, management and quality improvement of the residential homes, working with a multi‑agency network and the local Children’s Services team.

Qualifications

  • Professional qualification at Level 5 (or equivalent) in Leadership and Management in Residential Childcare.
  • Significant managerial experience in a children’s residential setting.
  • Capacity to lead a team to achieve best outcomes for children in care.
  • Confidence in managing competing demands within tight time frames.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners and the local Children’s Services team.
