Grade: 8 or 9.

Type: Full time, Permanent.

Full‑time starting salary ranges £47,389 to £56,535 for Grade 8, and £58,225 to £67,468 for Grade 9, with potential progression to £63,606 and £87,974 respectively.

Role Summary

The successful applicant will be based in Edgbaston and hold a position as Assistant or Associate Professor in Sport Data Science. Key duties and responsibilities include:

  • Giving lectures, seminars and supervising undergraduate and postgraduate students.
  • Course development and innovation.
  • Actively participating in examinations.
  • Carrying out innovative research and publishing papers in journals, books and other outlets.
  • Obtaining research grant funding.

The role requires active contribution to the School’s research portfolio and community through interdisciplinary collaboration and evidence‑driven teaching.

Qualifications

  • PhD in a relevant specialist subject area.
  • Postdoctoral experience.
  • Strong research profile in machine learning, artificial intelligence, data mining, large‑scale data analytics, with applications to sport data science considered essential.
  • Track record of securing external funding and the potential to continue to do so.
  • Clear evidence of how research and scholarly activity inform and shape teaching.
  • Excellent academic citizenship and ability to collaborate with colleagues and students.
