About the role

The Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT) Department at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust operates across Manchester Royal Infirmary, Wythenshawe Hospital and North Manchester General Hospital. This position provides senior clinical leadership within a busy, tertiary-level service that delivers both Head & Neck oncology and complex ENT specialties, including Otology, Rhinology and Laryngology. The role is part of the Greater Manchester ENT team and involves collaboration with partner hospitals to offer high‑quality, timely care to patients across Greater Manchester and beyond.

Responsibilities

  • Provide outpatient services to the full range of ENT patient cohorts, from two‑week wait referrals to routine cases.
  • Perform surgical interventions for Head & Neck, Otology and Rhinology patients, applying evidence‑based techniques and maintaining surgical competence.
  • Participate in and contribute to the out‑of‑hours on‑call rota, ensuring timely access to specialist care.
  • Involve in teaching and educational activities for senior and junior doctors, fostering the development of future ENT clinicians.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and contribute to a flexible, mutually agreeable rolling job plan that supports both service needs and personal work‑life balance.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience as a qualified ENT consultant, with recognised surgical expertise in Head & Neck, Otology and Rhinology.
  • Strong clinical judgment, decision‑making skills and a commitment to evidence‑based practice.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team within a tertiary care environment.
  • Commitment to teaching and mentorship of trainees and junior staff.
