A leading, award-winning experiential agency is looking for a Technical Production Director to lead its technical production function and play a key role in the next phase of business growth.
This is a senior leadership position responsible for setting technical standards, leading complex live and experiential projects, developing a high-performing technical team, and ensuring exceptional delivery across a portfolio of brand activations, conferences, exhibitions and immersive experiences.
Working closely with creative, production and innovation teams, you’ll translate ambitious concepts into technically robust, commercially viable experiences delivered to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the technical production strategy, processes and quality standards across the business.
- Oversee the delivery of large-scale live events, experiential activations, exhibitions and immersive installations from concept through to show delivery.
- Act as the senior technical authority across AV, lighting, sound, staging, LED, scenic and production technologies.
- Produce and review technical specifications, drawings, budgets and production plans.
- Build, mentor and develop an in-house technical production team, while managing specialist suppliers and freelance resources.
- Own technical budgets, supplier relationships, procurement processes and commercial performance.
- Support pitches, proposals and client presentations, acting as a trusted senior technical advisor.
- Drive innovation, operational excellence, sustainability initiatives and continuous improvement across the department.
About You
- 8+ years’ experience in technical production within an experiential, events, exhibition or live communications agency.
- Proven track record delivering complex, high-value productions from concept through execution.
- Strong technical expertise across AV, lighting, sound, staging, rigging, LED and scenic production.
- Experienced leading and developing technical production teams.
- Commercially astute with experience managing large-scale budgets and supplier networks.
- Proficient with technical design software such as Vectorworks and/or AutoCAD.
- Strong understanding of health & safety, risk management and event compliance.
- Equally comfortable operating at both strategic and hands‑on levels.
- Experience with immersive technologies, interactive experiences or XR is advantageous.
