Overview
Seeking experienced Data Governance professionals with strong Capital Markets & Risk domain expertise to support a marquee BFS client undergoing a large-scale regulatory remediation and transformation program (Consent Order-driven). The role requires working across Front Office, Risk, Finance, and Technology functions to drive data governance, lineage, controls, and data quality improvements aligned with regulatory expectations (eg, BCBS 239).
Key Responsibilities
- Data Governance & Regulatory Remediation: lead data remediation initiatives across Capital Markets upstream systems (trade capture, risk, finance); support Consent Order deliverables including data quality, lineage, and control enhancements.
- Data Lineage & Traceability: define and document end-to-end data lineage from Front Office to System of Record (SoR) across key regulatory reports and business processes; ensure lineage completeness and alignment with critical data elements (CDEs).
- Data Ownership & Authoritative Sources: identify and define SoR and authoritative data sources; establish data ownership, stewardship, and redistribution controls.
- Data Quality & Controls: design and implement data quality frameworks, controls, and monitoring mechanisms; define DQ rules, thresholds, and issue remediation workflows.
- Governance & Reporting: develop data governance scorecards and KPIs for ongoing monitoring and executive reporting; drive governance forums with stakeholders and track action closure.
- Stakeholder Management: engage with senior stakeholders across Markets, Risk, Finance, and Technology; facilitate decision-making through structured governance meetings and clear outcome tracking.
Qualifications & Experience
- Strong experience in Capital Markets (Equities, Fixed Income, Derivatives) data flows and life cycle.
- Exposure to Regulatory Reporting (eg, FR Y‑14, CCAR, MiFID, SEC reporting).
- Solid understanding and practical implementation of BCBS 239 principles.
- Experience with data governance tools (eg, Collibra, etc., if applicable).
- Understanding of risk and finance data controls and reconciliation frameworks.
- Technical proficiency in Excel, SQL, data analysis, and automation tools.
- MBA, CA, CPA, CMA, CFA, or relevant degree in Finance, Data, or Technology.
- Deep Capital Markets domain expertise with strong Data Governance knowledge.
- Strong understanding of data lineage & metadata management, data quality frameworks, control design, and governance operating models.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to translate business requirements into data solutions and defend them with technical + functional clarity.
- Proven ability to drive outcomes in complex, cross‑functional environments.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with attention to detail.
- Prior experience in team leadership or mentoring is an added advantage.
