Job Description:

Ringway Infrastructure Services is seeking an experienced Area Manager to lead the delivery of Traffic Management and Drainage operations across the Kent County Council highways contract.

This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality service delivery across a defined geographic area. The role will drive operational performance, manage teams, and maintain strong collaborative relationships with Kent County Council and key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead delivery of all Traffic Management and Drainage works across the area, ensuring safety, quality, and programme targets are met
  • Oversee planned and reactive operations, including drainage maintenance, cleansing, inspections, and TM deployment
  • Drive a strong health & safety culture, ensuring full compliance with NRSWA, Chapter 8, and highways regulations
  • Manage and develop operational teams, supervisors, operatives, and subcontractors to achieve high performance
  • Act as the main point of contact for Kent County Council, maintaining strong client and stakeholder relationships
  • Monitor budgets, control costs, and deliver against KPIs, identifying efficiencies and improvements
  • Support planning teams to ensure effective scheduling, emergency response, and service continuity

Key Requirements and Qualifications

Experience

  • Proven experience as an Area Manager / Operations Manager within highways, infrastructure, or utilities.
  • Strong background in Traffic Management and/or Drainage operations.
  • Experience working on local authority highways contracts is highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multi-disciplinary operational teams.
  • HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering or related discipline (desirable)
  • SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely (essential or willingness to obtain)
  • NRSWA Supervisor (desirable)
  • Full UK driving licence (essential)

Technical Knowledge

Solid understanding of:

  • Highways maintenance and asset management
  • Drainage systems and maintenance practices
  • Traffic Management (Chapter 8)
  • NRSWA regulations
