We are working with a specialist provider of neurological rehabilitation, and complex care services for individuals living with acquired brain injuries and related neurological conditions. Through a network of assessment services, rehabilitation units, and residential settings, the organisation delivers person-centred support aimed at maximising independence, enhancing quality of life, and helping individuals achieve their personal goals.
The service supports people with a wide range of needs arising from traumatic injuries, illness, neurological conditions, and other causes of acquired brain injury. Its multidisciplinary teams provide evidence-based rehabilitation, specialist clinical care, and long-term support tailored to individual needs.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide consultant psychiatric leadership within a specialist acquired brain injury and neurological rehabilitation service.
- Undertake comprehensive psychiatric and neuropsychiatric assessments of individuals with acquired brain injury and complex neurological conditions.
- Diagnose and manage a wide range of mental health, behavioural, emotional, and cognitive difficulties associated with brain injury and neurological disorders.
- Develop, implement, and review person-centred treatment and care plans in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team.
- Prescribe, monitor, and review psychotropic medications in accordance with current clinical guidelines and best practice.
- Provide expert advice and support to colleagues regarding the psychiatric and behavioural management of patients with complex needs.
- Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case reviews, clinical governance activities, and service development initiatives.
- Work collaboratively with patients, families, carers, commissioners, and external healthcare professionals to support rehabilitation goals and discharge planning.
- Ensure practice complies with professional, regulatory, and organisational standards, including those of the General Medical Council and Royal College of Psychiatrists.
Essential:
- MB BS or equivalent medical qualification.
- Fully registered with the GMC with a licence to practise at the time of appointment
- In good standing with GMC with respect to warning and conditions on practice.
- MRCPsych.
- Approved clinician status.
- Approved under Section 12
- Excellent clinical skills using bio-psycho-social perspective and wide medical knowledge
- Makes decisions based on evidence and experience including the contribution of others.
- Able to meet duties under MHA and MCA.
- Has actively participated in clinical audit and quality improvement programmes
- Demonstrate commitment to shared leadership & collaborative working to deliver improvement.
