Job Description:

Proven experience as a Buyer within a project-led engineering, manufacturing, construction, or similar environment.

A leading organisation delivering specialist programmes across the UK nuclear sector are currently recruiting for a Buyer on a full-time basis in Chorley.

Key responsibilities for the Buyer will include and will not be limited to:

  • Deliver end to end project procurement to schedule, budget, and specification.
  • Issue RFQs and ITTs, evaluate quotes, and produce tender recommendations
  • Maintain procurement schedules and supplier compliance.
  • Place and expedite purchase orders and resolve supplier issues.
  • Keep audit-ready procurement records and provide updates in project meetings.
  • Manage supplier engagement and provide performance feedback.
  • Support invoice matching, onboarding documentation, and supplier data maintenance.

Key skills and experience required for Buyer job applicants will include and will not be limited to:

  • CIPS Level 4 (or equivalent).
  • Proven experience in sourcing, RFQ management, negotiation, and supplier engagement.
  • Strong understanding of commercial, technical, and quality requirements.
  • Project-based procurement experience within engineering, construction, defence, or manufacturing.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills with the ability to manage multiple packages at once.
  • High attention to detail with disciplined, audit-ready documentation.
  • Confident using procurement systems, Microsoft Office, and document management tools.
  • IOSH Managing Safely or Level 2 Health and Safety in the Workplace (or equivalent) is desirable, training can be provided.
