Senior Quantity Surveyor – Tier 1 Main Contractor

Are you an experienced Quantity Surveyor looking to take the next step with one of the UK’s leading Tier 1 contractors?
We are seeking a commercially astute Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a high-performing team delivering major construction projects across a diverse portfolio including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, infrastructure, and mixed-use developments.
The Role
Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in managing the commercial performance of projects from pre-construction through to final account. You will provide strategic commercial leadership, manage risk, maximise value, and ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the commercial management of major construction projects.
- Prepare, review and negotiate subcontract packages and procurement strategies.
- Manage project budgets, forecasts, valuations and cost reporting.
- Assess and manage variations, change control and contractual claims.
- Prepare and agree interim applications and final accounts.
- Provide commercial advice to project teams and senior stakeholders.
- Monitor project performance, identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Mentor and support junior surveyors within the commercial team.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants and subcontractors.
About You
- Degree qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Proven experience working for a main contractor on large-scale construction projects.
- Strong knowledge of JCT and NEC forms of contract.
- Excellent commercial awareness and contractual understanding.
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders and work collaboratively within project teams.
- Strong negotiation, communication and analytical skills.
- Membership of RICS (or working towards) is desirable.
