Role Overview

Responsible for operational management and clinical leadership of the elderly care occupational therapy team in conjunction with the Professional Lead for OT. Serve as an advanced specialist OT in elderly care, managing own caseload of highly complex patients, providing specialist support and advice, ensuring high‑quality service, and deputising for the Professional Lead as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operational management and clinical leadership of the elderly care OT team.
  • Autonomous management of own caseload of patients with highly complex conditions.
  • Provide specialist support and advice to the OT team and other healthcare staff.
  • Ensure high quality and effective OT service in elderly care.
  • De‑putise for the Professional Lead for OT as required.
  • Operate across three inpatient elderly care wards and one inpatient orthogeriatric hip fracture ward.
  • Manage outpatient responsibilities for regular falls and movement disorders clinics.

Qualifications & Experience

Expected to be an experienced OT with past leadership and service development experience, extensive NHS inpatient elderly care experience, and excellent assessment, clinical reasoning, treatment, and teaching skills. Sound IT skills and demonstration of the Trust’s CARE values are essential.
