We’re looking for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our Somerset team based in Wellington.
Location and Hours
Wellington, Somerset, TA21 9AD – 40 hours per week (Monday to Friday).
Compensation
Salary: From £27,976 plus overtime, call out and standby. We are unable to offer certificates of sponsorship to any candidates in this role.
Responsibilities
- Respond to highway defects within designated timescales, including installing and removing emergency traffic management signage.
- Deliver minor improvement works to enhance the Somerset network.
- Use tablet devices to provide accurate records of works and incidents.
- Operate a variety of plant and equipment safely and effectively.
- Promote customer care by working closely with colleagues and interacting politely with clients and the general public.
Qualifications
- Full driving licence.
- Self‑motivated with good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Capable of working under pressure in a safety‑critical role.
- Enjoyable working both as part of a team and independently with minimal supervision.
- Committed to promoting health and safety in the workplace.
