Self-Directed Support Officer – Ref: SS01826

G5: £28,598 – £31,022 per annum.

We are looking for a motivated and detail-oriented Self-Directed Support Officer to join our Adult Social Care & Health team. This is a vital role supporting the delivery of Direct Payments and Individual Service Funds, helping residents to have greater choice and control over their care.

You will play a key role in managing virtual wallets, prepaid cards, and payment systems, ensuring funds are distributed correctly and used appropriately. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with strong financial skills who enjoys working with people and making a real impact in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage Direct Payments and Individual Service Funds for customers
  • Administer virtual wallet and prepaid card systems
  • Set up new users and allocate funding
  • Monitor spend, identify discrepancies, and carry out audits
  • Reconcile payment cycles and ensure financial accuracy
  • Work with service users, families, and providers to resolve queries
  • Recover surplus balances in line with policy
  • Act as a key contact and subject matter expert for Self-Directed Support
  • Support colleagues and promote understanding of Direct Payments

About You

  • Strong financial and analytical skills with experience managing accounts
  • Experience of auditing or monitoring financial transactions
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with a range of stakeholders
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to manage a varied workload
  • Knowledge of Direct Payments, Self-Directed Support, or adult social care funding

The post holder will have a hybrid of office, remote and home working.

This post is covered by the Government’s Code of Practice on the English Language Fluency Duty for public sector workers. The post holder will be required to communicate verbally with customers and provide advice and/or information in accurate spoken English.
