Student Support Officer – Corby

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming secondary school in Corby that is seeking a dedicated Student Support Officer to join their pastoral team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering a future career in teaching and looking to gain meaningful experience within a secondary school before progressing onto a PGCE, SCITT, School Direct, or other teacher training pathway.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting students with emotional, behavioural, attendance, or wellbeing challenges on a 1:1 and small-group basis
- Building positive and trusting relationships that encourage engagement, resilience, and self-confidence
- Working alongside pastoral leaders, teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement targeted interventions
- Supporting behaviour management and restorative approaches across the school
- Monitoring attendance and punctuality and supporting strategies to improve engagement
- Liaising with parents and carers where appropriate to support positive outcomes
- Contributing to safeguarding procedures and promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment
What We’re Looking For
- A degree in any subject area (essential)
- A genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education
- Experience working with young people through mentoring, tutoring, coaching, youth work, volunteering, or similar settings
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
- A calm, empathetic, and professional approach when supporting students
- The ability to remain resilient and adaptable in a busy school environment
