Job Description

We are looking for support workers to join our care team at Lansdowne Secure Children’s home. You will be responsible for providing the day‑to‑day safe and secure care of children, keeping them engaged and occupied, and encouraging participation in fun, enriching activities such as sports, cooking, arts and crafts, and many more. As part of the rota, you will be required to do sleep‑ins in the home on occasion.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day‑to‑day safe and secure care of children.
  • Encourage and participate in enriching activities with the young people.
  • Keep children engaged and occupied during the day.
  • Do sleep‑ins in the home on occasion as part of the rota.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to manage difficult conversations, conflicts, and challenge poor behaviour while maintaining strong, consistent boundaries.
  • Understanding of how trauma affects behaviour and the ability to apply this knowledge in everyday interactions.
  • Capability to lead from the floor when needed, take initiative, and know when to escalat e concerns and follow safeguarding procedures.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to offer clear, assertive direction and support to children to ensure they feel safe.
