Ready for a Change?
From Care & Support Work to Supporting Children with Learning Difficulties
Are you currently working in care or support work and feeling exhausted, undervalued, or stuck in a cycle of long shifts and constant pressure?
Do you still care deeply about helping people — but want a role that feels more rewarding, structured, and hopeful?
We’re looking for caring, patient, and resilient people from the care industry to join our SEN School in Chelmsford as a Learning Support Assistant.
Why This Role Might Be Exactly What You’re Looking For
If you’ve worked in care, you already have the skills that matter most:
- Compassion and patience
- Experience supporting people with additional needs
- Emotional resilience
- A calm, reassuring presence during challenging moments
The difference? Here, you’ll be supporting children with learning difficulties in a school environment — helping them grow, communicate, and achieve things they once found impossible.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting children with learning difficulties and additional needs in the classroom
- Helping pupils access learning, routines, and social interaction
- Working closely with teachers, therapists, and other support staff
- Encouraging independence, confidence, and emotional regulation
- Being a consistent, trusted adult in a child’s school day
What Makes This Different from Care Work
- Term-time hours (with school holidays)
- A supportive team environment
- Structured days with clear routines
- Training provided for education and special needs support
- The chance to change the direction of your career without losing your purpose
Who We’re Looking For
- Current or former support workers, carers, or care assistants
- Hold an enhanced DBS on the update service – or willingness to apply!
- No school experience needed — your care background is valued
- A calm, patient, and reliable nature
- A genuine interest in supporting children with learning difficulties
This Could Be Your Fresh Start
If you’re feeling:
- Drained by the care industry
- Ready for something more positive
- Curious about working in education
- Nervous but excited about change
Please reach out to me rebecca.oliver@teachingpersonnel.com and we can discuss how to get started!
