BTU Admissions Coordinator
Opening closing date: 18 June 2026.
The role is to provide comprehensive administrative support to the Brooke Treatment Unit, working alongside the Ward Manager and Operational Service Team to meet ward objectives.
Responsibilities
- Maintain the elective waiting list for urgent, semi‑urgent or planned admissions.
- Arrange and coordinate patient admissions and discharges, including transfers to and from other hospitals.
- Provide day‑to‑day administrative support to the unit.
- Work independently with minimum supervision.
- Operate the reception desk in the absence of the Receptionist, greet patients and log patient details.
- Liaise with medical, nursing, MDT and other departments to ensure timely investigations.
- Update files containing sensitive personal and confidential patient information.
- Organise case conferences and professional meetings, ensuring all participants receive details.
- Respond to enquiries from service users, relatives and visitors, including those that are distressing or sensitive.
- Assist ward managers and matrons with investigations of non‑clinical adverse events.
- Support managers and matrons in sustaining high levels of efficiency and effectiveness, reducing risk of harm.
Qualifications
- General education with numeracy and literacy skills.
- IT qualification or equivalent.
- NVQ Level 2 in business administration.
- Proven administrative experience within NHS setting.
Key Skills
- Excellent verbal and non‑verbal communication with patients, relatives, and internal/external agencies.
- Proficient in information systems: word processing, spreadsheets, databases, patient administration system, email.
Knowledge
- Working knowledge of Trust’s current information systems.
Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Application requires a DBS check under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1975 (Exceptions Order).
Employment Details
- Salary: £25,760 – £27,476 per annum (pro‑rata).
- Contract type: Fixed term.
- Duration: 12 months.
- Working pattern: Part‑time.
