Job Description:

As a Maintenance Operative, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, comfortable, and welcoming environment for our patients, families, staff, volunteers, and visitors. With a strong electrical focus, you will undertake planned preventative maintenance, reactive repairs, compliance checks, and general building maintenance across the Hospice site.

This is a varied and hands‑on role where no two days are the same. You’ll work across electrical systems, plumbing, joinery, decorating, grounds maintenance, and general repairs, helping to ensure our facilities remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose.

Job Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned and reactive maintenance with a primary focus on electrical systems and equipment.
  • Undertake electrical fault finding, minor repairs, testing and compliance checks.
  • Complete statutory compliance tasks including PAT testing, emergency lighting checks, fire alarm testing and legionella monitoring.
  • Support general building maintenance including plumbing, joinery, decorating and repairs.
  • Assist with contractor management and ensure safe systems of work are followed.
  • Support the upkeep of Hospice grounds and facilities.
  • Participate in the Estates on‑call rota.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and compliance documentation.
