About the role

We are recruiting an Electrical Maintenance Technician to join the Engineering Team at our Gainsborough manufacturing site, a high-volume food production facility operating 24/7 across multiple process areas. In this role you will carry out PPM (Planned Preventive Maintenance) and reactive maintenance on automated production and utility assets, focusing on plant availability, safety and compliance. Depending on operational needs you may work as part of a maintenance team or autonomously, supporting a fast‑paced, continuous process environment covering milling, blending, extrusion and crumb production. This is a permanent, full‑time position operating on a 4‑on/4‑off shift pattern.

  • Carry out risk assessments with relevant people and implement controls to minimise risk to acceptable levels where reasonably practicable.
  • Lock off any dangerous machinery immediately and repair or notify appropriately.
  • Resolve breakdowns, carry out PMs and work on project or improvement works to minimise production downtime.
  • Seek to undertake PMs on offline machinery when time allows.
  • Fully complete PM sheets with all observations, jobs completed and recommendations, and file with the Maintenance Planner, continuously looking for ways to improve PMs.
  • Gather information from production personnel regarding faults to speed up fault‑finding.
  • Keep engineering log and computer systems fully updated with all relevant information including PM numbers, parts used, plant numbers and urgency of required parts at the end of each shift.
  • Ensure all communications with external persons are conducted professionally and reflect the company profile.

  • Experience in a similar role, ideally within a food manufacturing environment; experience in any manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
  • Electrically biased or multi‑skilled.
  • Experience of hydraulic and pneumatic systems highly desirable.
  • Flexible approach with a positive “can‑do” attitude.
  • Experience of SAP highly desirable.

  • 4‑on/4‑off shift pattern (4 days working, 4 days rest).
  • 25 days annual leave (excluding bank holidays).
  • Matched pension scheme.
  • Access to Perkbox, offering discounts and benefits with major retailers.
  • Share scheme.
  • Employee Assistance Programme.
