About the Role
A Mechanical Maintenance Technician will work in the Darlington Maintenance team. You will be a fully mobile worker, provided with a van and fuel card, starting and finishing your working day from home. Responsibilities include fault diagnosis and preventative maintenance to improve plant availability. You will work on a range of equipment including condition‑based maintenance, generators and chemical dosing. Participation in an out‑of‑hours standby rota is required and additional payments are made for standby, call‑outs and extra hours worked.
About You
You are a time‑served Mechanical Technician educated to at least ONC/NVQ level 3 or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering. You have a background in reactive breakdowns and planned work, and you manage your time efficiently with minimal supervision. You are experienced in reading mechanical drawings to locate faults, identifying the source and replacing faulty components. A can‑do attitude, willingness to learn, hands‑on practical approach and keen eye for identifying root cause are essential. Excellent communication skills and a team‑player mindset are required. A strong Health and Safety ethic is mandatory. A full, manual UK driving licence is essential.

The role is defined as a Safety and Security Critical role.
