Job Description:

We are seeking patient, compassionate, and positive women to join our committed team at our Supported Living service in Blackwood, providing essential support to individuals with physical and learning disabilities. This is a part‑time, permanent role with optional waking night or sleep‑in shifts.

About the role

The service operates 24/7 and supports four individuals with learning and physical disabilities. Shifts include:

  • Day shifts – 7:30 am – 4:00 pm or 3:30 pm – 9:30 pm
  • Waking night shifts and sleep‑in shifts as additional coverage

Work as part of a rolling rota to ensure consistent support; flexibility is key.

Legal requirement: this role is open only to applicants who are biologically female.

Key Duties

  • Provide person‑centred support for daily needs, including personal care (showering, bathing, brushing teeth, continence care, etc.)
  • Assist with mobility, using hoists and wheelchairs
  • Support dietary needs and food preparation
  • Offer emotional support
  • Complete cleaning and digital administrative tasks
  • Administer and manage medication; monitor medication stocks and finances
  • Contribute innovative ideas to improve team practices

Skills and Experience Needed

  • Background working with people with physical or mental health needs is desired, though not required – full training and support will be provided
  • IT, literacy and numeracy skills
  • Experience working as part of a team and customer service skills

Pay and Pensions

  • £25,877 (£13.45 per hour) – applicable for standard shifts
  • Sleep‑in shift: £62.64 for an 8‑hour shift (approximately once per week)
  • Waking night shift: 20% enhancement for 11 pm‑7 am hours

Enhanced DBS is paid for. Social Care Wales registration is fully reimbursed.
