Learning Support Assistant – TA3

Required 1st September 2026

Permanent, 31 hours per week

(worked over 5 days, Monday to Friday)

Term time only + 5 teacher education days (TEDs)

We are seeking a committed, compassionate and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join our enhanced mainstream autism base.

This provision supports students with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) who require additional, specialist support within a mainstream school environment.

You will work closely with the MAB Coordinator, class teachers and specialist staff to support students’ learning, communication, emotional regulation and independence, both within the autism base and, where appropriate, in mainstream classrooms.

The salary is paid at Grade TA3, points 7 to 17, £19,430 – £22,830 per annum (£26,403 – £31,022 full time equivalent). Pay award Pending.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide tailored support to students with autism to access the curriculum
  • Assist in the delivery of individual learning programmes and EHCP targets
  • Support students with communication, social interaction and sensory needs
  • Use a range of strategies to promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, therapists and families
  • Support inclusion into mainstream lessons where appropriate
  • Assist with preparation of learning resources and classroom organisation

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience of working with children with special educational needs, particularly autism (desirable)
  • Demonstrates patience, empathy and a nurturing approach
  • Can build positive relationships with students, staff and families
  • Is flexible, proactive and able to work as part of a team
  • Has good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE or equivalent)
