An opportunity has arisen to join the Prevent Team at Counter Terrorism Policing South East (CTPSE). Working within Prevent, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to make a difference by preventing people becoming terrorists or supporting terrorism.

Job Overview

The role is within the Prevent Gateway Team, operating in a high-demand environment. The successful candidate will complete timely assessments to identify individuals vulnerable to radicalisation and decide the outcome of Prevent referrals. The role requires liaising with internal and external partners to gather information, making informed assessments using decision-making tools, and accurately recording and categorising Prevent referrals on the Prevent Case Management system.

Key Responsibilities

  • Complete timely assessments to identify individuals vulnerable to radicalisation.
  • Make decisions regarding the outcome of Prevent referrals.
  • Liaise with internal and external partners to gather information for assessments.
  • Use decision-making tools to make informed assessments.
  • Accurately record and categorise Prevent referrals on the Prevent Case Management system.
  • Maintain high standards of communication and partnership working.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Strong communication and partnership working skills.
  • Experience handling sensitive information.
  • Understanding of the National Prevent Strategy and the Counter Terrorism & Security Act 2015.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and, if required, travel away from home.
  • Resident in the UK and a British National for the past five years; exemptions for overseas or diplomatic service may apply.
  • Must pass and maintain UK vetting level SC with additional security checks.

Working Conditions

The role requires flexibility with working hours to match operational demand and may include occasional away-from-home work.

Security Vetting

Due to the nature of the work, candidates must successfully obtain and maintain a security vetting level SC plus additional checks. British National status and UK residency for the past five years are mandatory.
