Rewarding SEND Role for Resilient Teaching Assistants

TeacherActive is proud to be working with a vibrant and inclusive primary school in East London that is seeking a dedicated and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team immediately.

This is not your typical Teaching Assistant role. The school is looking for someone who can provide consistent support to pupils with additional needs, including SEND, SEMH, communication difficulties, and behavioural challenges. The successful candidate will play a vital role in helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and achieve positive outcomes both academically and personally.

The school serves a diverse and welcoming community and is recognised for its nurturing ethos, strong leadership team, and commitment to inclusion. Staff are passionate about ensuring every child feels valued, supported, and able to succeed regardless of their starting point. The leadership team invests heavily in staff development and wellbeing, creating a collaborative environment where support is readily available.

You will be working alongside experienced teachers, SEND professionals, and pastoral staff who share a common goal of helping children develop confidence, resilience, and a love of learning.

The Role

  • Supporting pupils with SEND on a 1:1 and small group basis
  • Assisting children with social, emotional, and behavioural needs
  • Helping to implement individual support plans and interventions
  • Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement in learning
  • Building strong relationships with pupils, families, and staff
  • Creating a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

  • Previous experience supporting children with SEND, SEMH, ASD, ADHD, or behavioural needs
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • The ability to remain positive in challenging situations
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable children
  • An enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one)

Why Apply?

This role offers the opportunity to make a genuine difference in the lives of children who need support the most. Every day presents new challenges, but also the chance to celebrate meaningful progress and help pupils build confidence, independence, and success.

In Return, TeacherActive Can Offer

  • Competitive rates of pay
  • Access to ongoing CPD and training opportunities
  • A dedicated consultant available to support you throughout your placement
  • Flexible payment options
  • Referral bonuses for recommending friends and colleagues
  • Opportunities for long-term and permanent positions

Safeguarding and DBS Compliance

Registration may involve an enhanced DBS check, ID checks and the supply of good professional references, depending on the role. We are committed to safeguarding and compliance across all placements.

Equal Opportunities

TeacherActive is an equal opportunities employer and operates as an Employment Business and Employment Agency in providing temporary, contract and permanent job seeking services.
