Spanish Teacher

Location: Hackney

Salary: £185 – £265 per day (depending on experience)

Start Date: ASAP

Contract Type: Long Term until July 2026

About the Role

GSL Education’s London Branch is currently seeking a passionate and experienced Spanish Teacher to deliver engaging Spanish lessons and support student achievement within a vibrant and diverse secondary school in Hackney.

Accountabilities for Spanish Teacher

  • Plan and deliver high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4 that meet the needs of all learners.
  • Maintain high expectations of students’ behaviour and achievement, and establish excellent relationships with students.
  • Monitor and record students’ progress using Assessment for Learning strategies and in accordance with Academy assessment policies.
  • Maintain an up-to-date knowledge and understanding of developments within your subject specialism.
  • Work under the direction of the MFL Subject Leader and liaise with other department staff to develop the curriculum.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of Academy policies and practice, including those designed to promote equality of opportunity.
  • Contribute to the wider life of the Academy, including planning and delivery of enrichment activities such as field and residential trips and extra-curricular clubs.
  • Build partnerships with parents, community groups and local organisations.
  • Ensure Spanish classrooms are purposeful, stimulating and safe learning environments.

Requirements for Spanish Teacher

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) is essential.
  • A degree or equivalent qualification in Spanish or a related subject.
  • Proven experience teaching Spanish up to KS4.
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills.
  • Excellent subject knowledge and teaching ability.
  • Ability to adapt teaching to meet diverse learner needs, including SEN and EAL students.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
