We are looking for a part-time Clinical Support Worker (22.5 hours per week) to join our Watford Sexual Health Clinic on a permanent basis.
Sexual Health Hertfordshire delivers essential genitourinary medicine (GUM), contraception, and HIV care within the community. This is a rewarding opportunity to support individuals accessing vital healthcare services in a professional, inclusive, and patient‑focused environment.
As a Clinical Support Worker, you will:
- Support the delivery of GUM, contraception, and HIV services under the guidance of a Registered Nurse or Allied Health Professional.
- Provide safe, compassionate, and high‑quality care to people accessing the service.
- Undertake training and competency assessments to develop your clinical skills and knowledge.
- Contribute to maintaining quality, safety, and effective clinical environment.
- Assist with a range of duties, including clinical tasks and administrative support when required.
- Engage in communication with colleagues, patients, and partner organisations.
- Support service improvement, safety processes, and your own ongoing development.
Main duties of the job
Key duties within this varied role would include:
- Carry out clinical observations and procedures such as vital signs, routine urinalysis, pregnancy testing, venepuncture, microscopy, and asymptomatic screening following appropriate training.
- Act as a chaperone during clinical examinations and provide support as required.
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality at all times.
- Respect and support the rights of young people, including those under 16, in line with confidentiality principles and Fraser guidelines.
- Help maintain a safe, clean, and organised clinical environment.
- Undertake administrative tasks as directed by a Registered Nurse or other qualified professional.
- Provide reception cover when needed, supporting the smooth running of the clinic.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues across the multi‑disciplinary team to support effective service delivery.
- Follow all relevant departmental and Trust policies, procedures, and clinical protocols.
- Assist with stocking, ordering, and maintaining clinical supplies and equipment.
- Support accurate data entry and maintenance within the Lilie clinical administration system.
- Take responsibility for managing your work email and communication in a timely manner.
- Participate in regular one‑to‑one meetings and contribute to your Personal Development Plan (PDP).

Person Specification
- Higher Professional Diploma in Health and Wellbeing (NVQ/QCF – Level 3) or a recognised equivalent course
- Willingness to undertake further training as appropriate.
- GCSE grade A-C or equivalent in English and Maths
- ECDL certificate
- Registration with the national regulatory body (when it becomes available).
Experience
- Experience of working as part of a team
- Experience of working with the general public in a customer or client facing role.
- Experience with the use of Microsoft Office or a variety of databases/IT systems.
- Experience of working in a health or social care setting
Skills & Knowledge
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Able use own initiative to plan and prioritise own workload to meet deadlines.
- Able to carry out assigned tasks in a busy clinical environment.
