Job Description:

Teaching duties will involve:

Teaching Responsibilities

  • Preparation for, and in-person delivery of, lectures and practicals
  • Tutorials and fieldwork
  • Supporting students’ learning
  • Setting, marking and providing effective feedback on assessments

Qualifications and Expertise

  • Expertise in basin analysis and geophysics (seismic interpretation and borehole geophysics) required
  • PhD or equivalent in geosciences or a related discipline
  • In-depth knowledge of basin analysis and geophysics
  • Knowledge and/or experience of teaching in closely related disciplines (sedimentary geology, structural geology, earth resources, etc.) desirable
  • Proficiency in data analysis, geospatial, modelling or related capabilities, consistent with the School’s digital ambitions
  • Experience in contributing technical knowledge and transferable skills to multidisciplinary undergraduate and postgraduate teaching across the School, including fieldwork
  • Ability to teach sedimentary geology (facies analysis, petrography, surface processes) desirable
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a programme and module team
