Overview
The Lung Cancer Screening Administrative Assistant provides reception and routine administrative support to the Lung Cancer Screening Program, ensuring a professional, efficient, and patient‑focused service. The role supports patient booking, communication, and administrative processes, enabling patients to access Lung Health Check appointments and Low Dose CT scans in a timely and organised manner. It follows established processes, maintains accurate patient records, and supports patient flow through the administrative stages of the pathway. Clinical assessment or risk calculation is not included; these decisions are made by trained Patient Contact Assessors or clinical staff. The post is part of a multidisciplinary team, supporting patients from diverse backgrounds with clear, compassionate communication. The service operates six days a week. Note: sponsorship is not eligible for this post.
Working Hours
- Monday – Friday: 8:00 – 20:00
- Saturday: 9:00 – 13:00
Responsibilities
- Contact patients to confirm, book and rearrange Lung Health Check and CT scan appointments in line with agreed processes
- Provide clear and consistent information to patients using approved scripts and guidance
- Respond to routine patient queries and escalates clinical or complex queries to the appropriate team member
- Identify practical barriers to attendance and escalates where appropriate
- Manage Did Not Attend (DNA) appointments in line with service protocols
- Support patients from diverse backgrounds, including arranging interpreter services where required
Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (international licence not accepted)
- Secondment will be considered for internal candidates; if successful you must obtain approval from your current line manager to accept the offer.
