Working Hours: 07:30 – 15:30

We are currently recruiting for 6 Highways Operatives Grade 6 to join a busy operational team in Durham on a temporary basis. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals with experience in highways, grounds maintenance, construction, or general industrial work who enjoy working outdoors and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out highways maintenance and environmental works across the Borough.
• Support safe and effective delivery of operational services.
• Undertake manual duties associated with highways and general industrial work.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, and environmental compliance.
• Work collaboratively with team members and supervisors to deliver frontline services efficiently.
• Identify and report hazards or issues requiring attention.
• Provide excellent customer service when interacting with members of the public.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Previous experience within highways, construction, grounds maintenance, or similar operational environments is desirable.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Good awareness of health and safety procedures.
• Reliable, hardworking, and proactive approach to work.
• Good communication skills and willingness to work outdoors in varying conditions.
