Teacher Assistant – Exceptional Education.

190‑day position.

Base Salary: $20,932 base salary (based on education and teacher assistant experience).

Location: Brockington Elementary Magnet School.

School year: 2026‑2027.

FLSA Status: Non‑Exempt.

Negative TB test result must be on file prior to starting work.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of sixty (60) academic credit hours from an accredited institution of higher education.
  • An associate degree (or higher).
  • Or:
    • High School Diploma or equivalent.
    • Ready to Work Credentials:
      • WIN – Copy of WIN Assessment minimum of Level 3 certification.
      • ParaPro – Copy of passing score (minimum 456) on ParaPro, state‑approved academic assessment.
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications may be accepted as the Board finds appropriate and acceptable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide classroom teaching assistance.
  • Supervise students at all times.
  • Maintain a positive classroom environment.
  • Provide students with daily care (e.g., toileting, diapering, feeding, etc.) as needed or required.
  • Adhere to district dress code policies.
  • Maintain required confidentiality in regard to students and school records.
  • Support positively all facets of student growth and development.
  • Be able to lift a minimum of fifty pounds.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

  • Classified Employment Application 2.
  • Three (3) Classified Employment References (included in the application and will be emailed to references).
  • Copy of qualifying credentials as listed above.
  • College degree or transcript showing sixty (60) or more credit hours, or
  • High school diploma or equivalent, and WIN or ParaPro credentials.

For DCSD Employees: A “Request to Interview for Transfer” form must also be submitted for approval.

It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all required documents are submitted before the posted deadline. An incomplete application renders the applicant ineligible.
