Key Stage 2 Teacher
Key Stage 2 Teacher at Haberdashers’ Knights Primary plays a vital role in delivering high‑quality education that supports both academic progress and the wider development of every pupil. The successful candidate will plan and deliver consistently strong lessons in line with the National Curriculum and established schemes of work, setting clear objectives and using effective assessment to track and support progress. They will create engaging and challenging learning experiences that build on prior attainment, maintaining pace, motivation and high expectations throughout. The role requires careful monitoring of pupil progress, with timely intervention to ensure excellent learning outcomes and positive behaviour. In addition to classroom teaching, the teacher will provide pastoral support, fostering a nurturing environment that promotes the personal, social and emotional development of all pupils.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan and deliver quality lessons for Key Stage 2 pupils.
- Carry out teaching duties in accordance with the schemes of work and the National Curriculum.
- Identify clear teaching objectives, publish them and assess how they will be achieved.
- Set tasks that challenge pupils and ensure high levels of interest.
- Provide clear structures for lessons, maintaining pace, motivation and challenge.
- Make effective use of assessment and ensure coverage of the programmes of study.
- Monitor pupil progress and intervene when necessary to achieve excellent learning and behaviour outcomes.
- Provide pastoral support and ensure the development of the whole pupil.
- Plan and prepare materials and resources for lessons.
- Work with colleagues to plan and deliver team teaching and support inclusive education.
- Participate in health and safety, safeguarding and safeguarding policy reporting.
- Attend and undertake professional learning and development opportunities.
Essential Criteria
- Hold a good honours degree in a relevant discipline with a teaching qualification.
- Enhanced DBS clearance (will be provided).
- Evidence of sustained good pupil progress as an excellent classroom practitioner.
- In‑depth knowledge of curriculum development and pedagogy.
- Sound grasp of assessment, recording and reporting.
- Ability to maintain high standards of behaviour, attendance and conduct while ensuring an ethos of challenge and support.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
- Effective communication skills and ability to lead and work within teams.
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum at Key Stage 2 and ability to deliver lessons to a high standard.

- A higher qualification in education and/or management.
- Experience with differentiated activities for identified learning needs.
- Recognition and competence in literacy and/or numeracy.
- Experience in leading or supporting learning improvement initiatives.
