Overview

We are seeking to appoint an exceptional individual to the position of Behaviour Support Coordinator based at Plymstock School. The successful candidate will be required to manage and continue to develop our caring and supportive learning environment for our young people, including the school vision of “Achieving Excellence through Curriculum and Culture”.

The focus of this post is to complement the wider staff groups with implementation of the school’s Behaviour Policy. The Behaviour Support Coordinator will strive to improve the behaviour and habits of identified pupils whose behaviour is a barrier to their learning, through systematic interventions.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of their line manager, within an agreed system of supervision, the post holder is responsible for the effective day‑to‑day organisation, coordination and supervision of students along with supporting the Reset and Internal Reflection rooms (CORE) rooms. Implementing agreed work programmes with individuals or groups, in or out of the classroom or CORE rooms.

This is a permanent role. 37 hours per week over 39 weeks per annum. Grade D 8 – 14.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Recent experience of working closely with children and young people to support improvements in behaviours and attitudes
  • Understanding of the issues related to the motivation, behaviours and attitudes of young people
  • Understanding of the current issues related to disengagement of young people with education
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to develop successful working relationships
  • Experience of working with individuals or groups in or out of the classroom
