About the Role

Shaw Healthcare is seeking a Chef to work at West View, a care home in Tenterden, Kent specialising in dementia, residential, and respite care. The role involves preparing fresh, home‑cooked meals for residents and ensuring dietary needs and preferences are met while maintaining high standards of hygiene and food safety.

Salary and Hours

Salary: £14.94 per hour

Hours: 15 hrs per week

Shift Times: Every Tuesday and Wednesday, 8:30 am – 5:30 pm

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, cook and serve meals for residents and others as required, in a timely manner.
• Provide a varied diet, catering for cultural preferences of those who use the services.
• Cater for celebrations and other events in the home.
• Order supplies within the catering budget and company policy guidelines, using approved suppliers in the absence of the senior cook.
• Maintain accurate catering records in accordance with HACCP.
• Participate in inspections by Environmental Health and/or care regulators and local authorities.
• Maintain a high standard of hygiene within the kitchen by adhering to HACCP and COSHH guidelines.
• Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy working environment by ensuring adherence to Health & Safety and Welfare policies.
• Manage the catering team and coordinate activities with the Home Manager, Nutritional Therapist, and other staff.
