Head of Commercial Customs – Coventry/Hybrid
£5500 Car allowance plus Healthcare, 18% annual bonus potential with 27.5 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), increasing to 30 days after 10 years of service and a company pension scheme with highly competitive contribution rates.
Permanent, Full time – Coventry PFW International Hub, 3 Times per week.
About The Role
- Lead a 24‑hour customs operation across import and export declarations, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Own the commercial customs strategy, including pricing, cost management and building a new profit centre.
- Manage, develop and inspire a multi‑disciplinary team of 30+ across operations, compliance, systems and data.
- Drive performance through continuous improvement, automation and process optimisation.
- Act as the Customs SME, shaping system development and preparing for regulatory changes (e.g., ICS2, CDS).
- Build strong relationships with key partners, including HMRC, Border Force and network partners.
- Lead governance, audits and reporting to ensure robust compliance and risk management.
About You
- Proven senior leadership experience within customs, logistics or complex operational environments.
- Strong knowledge of customs regulations, international trade processes and compliance frameworks.
- Track record of managing large, multi‑functional teams and delivering operational excellence.
- Commercially astute with experience owning cost, pricing or P&L responsibility.
- Confident stakeholder manager with credibility across regulators and senior leaders.
- Ability to lead transformation and drive process improvement at scale.
- Data‑driven mindset with focus on automation, efficiency and performance.
