Legal Counsel (2-5 PQE) – EMEA Real Estate
EMEA Real Estate is a strategic growth priority for the Columbia Threadneedle Alternatives business. The role reports to the EMEA Real Estate Senior Counsel and operates within a hybrid legal support model, working closely with external counsel and other business functions.
Responsibilities
- Support the legal and regulatory aspects of structuring and launching new products, or restructuring existing products, working with senior counsel and external counsel on drafting and negotiation of documentation.
- Collaborate with portfolio managers, tax, finance, company secretarial and real estate operations to deliver new products or business‑critical projects.
- Negotiate legal documents and contracts for funds and mandates, including agreements with service providers (valuers, brokers, property managers) and letters of intent.
- Stay current with key developments in real‑estate fund law and regulation across the UK and Europe.
- Assist governance oversight of the real‑estate business.
- Supervise a trainee on secondment from external counsel.
- Provide legal support and advice for other products and services supported by the team.
- Contribute to the General Counsel’s Organisation culture, embracing responsible use of technology such as AI.
Qualifications
- 2‑5 years PQE with experience in real‑estate funds or other alternative funds, and/or as a corporate lawyer (in‑house or private practice).

Work Environment
In‑office collaboration is essential. Employees work in the office at least four (4) days per week, with flexibility to work from home one (1) day per week. Specific in‑office expectations will be discussed during the hiring process.
