Non-Medical Prescriber – HMP Woodhill

The Integrated Mental Health Team provides clinical and psychological interventions for prisoners with mental health needs in HMP Woodhill. The post holder will work as a member of the mental health team and contribute to delivering high quality, safe and effective Non-Medical Prescribing Services.

The post holder will be responsible for conducting mental health assessments and attending multi-disciplinary team meetings.

Main duties of the job

As an integral member of the Mental Health team, this role involves attending team meetings, assessing a variety of mental health presentations and initiating onward referrals. Working autonomously and as part of an MDT, you will provide mental health advice to health professionals across primary and secondary care services to support the treatment plans of service users.

Job responsibilities

The post holder will be responsible for the delivery and monitoring of a high standard of nursing care to patients assessed by the team. This will be done in accordance with their clinical needs, applying evidence‑based practice to achieve positive clinical outcomes. The post holder will adhere to relevant clinical protocols and policies. The post holder needs to be thoroughly familiar with all aspects of security and safety consistent with working within a custodial setting.

Education and Qualifications

  • RMN Qualification with NMC Registration
  • Evidence of professional development since registration
  • Post‑registration qualification that enhances clinical work: CBT, DBT, Dual Diagnosis, etc.
  • Management Qualification
  • Teaching and assessing qualification

Previous Experience

  • Experience of managing at a senior level
  • Experience of key working and care planning
  • Experience in multi‑agency working and training
  • Experience of working within prison/secure setting
  • Experience of managing staff
  • Knowledge and experience in using SystmOne IT program
  • Phlebotomy trained

Skills and Knowledge

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Sound clinical knowledge
  • Ability to provide and coordinate clinical and management supervision
  • Ability to work in partnership with other agencies

Salary and Benefits

£49,387 to £56,515 a year including HCAS (pro‑rata if part‑time).
