Senior Data Architect – Part-Time (2 Days per Week) vacancy in Corsham (182DM)
Role PurposeProvide strategic leadership for the Data Architecture and Information Architecture Communities of Practice across Defence.Drive improvements in data usability, interoperability, and architectural delivery by identifying common challenges, applying lessons learned, and embedding best practice into standards and guidance.
Key Responsibilities
- Capture and analyse insights from Communities of Practice (CoPs) and Communities of Interest (CoIs).
- Identify recurring delivery challenges relating to data usability, interoperability, governance, and architecture practices.
- Apply lessons learned and architectural improvements to medium and large-scale programmes and projects.
- Define and promote improvements to data architecture approaches, delivery methods, and standards.
- Engage senior stakeholders to influence decisions and drive adoption of recommended changes.
- Feed learning and best practice back into architecture guidance, standards, and Communities of Practice.
- Support the development and maturity of Data and Information Architecture capabilities across Defence.
- Champion alignment with Defence, NATO, GDAT, and GKIM standards where appropriate.
Essential Skills & Experience
- Significant experience in Data Architecture, Enterprise Architecture, or Information Architecture.
- Strong understanding of data management, interoperability, and architecture governance.
- Experience operating at senior leadership level and influencing strategic decision‑making.
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills.
- Proven ability to develop architecture standards, frameworks, and guidance.
- Must have SC clearance.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Experience working within Defence, Government, or highly regulated environments.
- Knowledge of GDAT, GKIM, or equivalent professional frameworks.
- Experience supporting Communities of Practice and knowledge‑sharing initiatives.
