Our Digital Computing & Software Development provision supports learners in developing the technical skills, knowledge, and confidence needed to succeed in the rapidly evolving tech sector.

This is a development role, designed specifically for candidates with industry experience in computing, IT, or software development who are ready to take their next step into teaching. You do not need prior teaching experience—we will fully support and develop you into an exceptional teacher.

You’ll bring your real-world knowledge into the classroom, helping learners connect theory to practice while building in-demand digital skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality teaching across digital computing and software development courses
  • Bring industry insight into lessons to create relevant, engaging learning experiences
  • Support learners in developing programming, problem-solving, and technical skills
  • Foster confidence, curiosity, and resilience in learners pursuing digital careers
  • Contribute to a forward-thinking, collaborative and innovative curriculum team
  • Engage with the wider ‘Outstanding’ Exeter College vision to be Exceptional

What We’re Looking For

  • Has current or recent industry experience in computing, IT, or software development

  • Is motivated to train and develop into a teaching role, with full support from the College
  • Embraces innovation and is excited by new and emerging technologies
  • Is committed to making a real difference in learners’ lives
  • Teaching experience is not essential — this role is ideal for industry professionals looking to transition into education.

What We Offer

  • A structured teacher development programme to support your transition from industry into teaching
  • Access to nationally recognised CPD and professional development opportunities
  • Smaller class sizes than schools, allowing for impactful, personalised teaching
  • A supportive, collaborative environment where your expertise is valued and developed

This is a unique opportunity to transform your career while helping shape the future workforce in the digital and tech sector. If you’re ready to step out of industry and into a role where you can truly make a difference, we’d love to hear from you.

Applications from those new to teaching are strongly encouraged, particularly individuals with relevant industry expertise. We are seeking to appoint someone with the greatest potential, enthusiasm and commitment to our team ethos.

Ambition, Collaboration, Energy. These are our values.
