About the School / Service

IT Services is a centralised resource working collaboratively with the University community to transform UEL’s digital world in line with the University’s Vision 2028 strategic plan. Engaging in ground‑breaking initiatives delivered within a dynamically developing cloud environment, IT Services work closely with staff, students, partners and other key collaborators to identify technological improvements to our learning and working environments. We implement, develop and provide support for systems and services within the university’s IT Service Portfolio.

About the Job

We’re looking for a methodical individual who is passionate about technology. You’ll assist in the architecture for all service integrations throughout the organisation to ensure that services are integrated in the most secure, reliable, standardised and optimised manner. As Integration & Database Specialist, your role will be

  • To assist in the design for integration and database projects, ensuring that new services are provisioned according to departmental standards
  • To create, maintain and support any integration used by the organisation
  • To manage service capacity, to monitor services on a regular basis ensuring that capacity is managed proactively
  • To architect and maintain diagrams and documentation for all databases and service integrations, to provide senior management monthly reports in relation to these technologies

About You

We’re looking for a hardworking and methodical individual to help design, development, monitor, and maintain data flows across UEL’s extensive ecosystem of over 70 systems and services. You’ll actively contribute to technical initiatives, ensuring the delivery of a high‑performing, resilient service that aligns with industry standards and best practice frameworks. You’ll be expected to promote a culture of continuous improvement within the team and the wider department, driving the implementation of key ITIL initiatives. A proactive approach to ensuring the security of database and integration technologies is essential, including the design and execution of vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to safeguard systems. Building strong working relationships with key stakeholders across the University will be crucial, ensuring that systems remain aligned with evolving business requirements and continue to meet the University’s operational needs effectively.
