Applications & Process Development Engineer/Scientist – Adsorbents Group

We are seeking a motivated Chemist/Engineer to join our Adsorbents team as an Applications & Process Development Engineer/Scientist. This position plays a key role in supporting both commercial and technical aspects of our business. The Chemist/Engineer will provide technical support to our sales team and customers, collaborate closely with the R&D team to support new product development, process scale‑up, and optimization activities, support product validation, analytical characterization, regulatory activities, and help qualify new raw materials. This role serves as a bridge between R&D, Operations, Quality, and Commercial teams to support successful product commercialization. The ideal candidate will combine strong analytical and engineering skills with a collaborative, hands‑on approach to problem‑solving.

Key Responsibilities

  • Applications & Technical Support
    • Provide technical support to the sales team and customers, including product recommendations, performance evaluations, and troubleshooting.
    • Assist in developing technical documentation, data sheets, and customer presentations.
    • Maintain accurate laboratory records and prepare technical reports summarizing test results.
  • Product Development and Scale‑up
    • Collaborate with R&D scientists on formulation, synthesis, and performance testing of new adsorbent products.
    • Support the development, scale‑up, and optimization of manufacturing processes for new products.
    • Facilitate transition of new products from laboratory development to commercial manufacturing.
    • Conduct laboratory and pilot‑scale testing to evaluate product performance in various water treatment applications.
  • Quality & Regulatory Support
    • Perform product analytical characterization and troubleshooting.
  • Raw Material Qualification
    • Evaluate and qualify new raw materials in collaboration with procurement, operations, and R&D teams.
  • External Collaboration
    • Coordinate work with external contract laboratories for specialized testing or analysis.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Follow established laboratory safety procedures and contribute to maintaining a safe work environment.

Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Environmental Science, or related field.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in a laboratory or technical role within water treatment, environmental chemistry, materials science, or related industry; experience in process scale‑up and product development is preferred.
  • Technical Skills
    • Knowledge of adsorption chemistry, water treatment processes, and/or metal removal technologies preferred.
    • Experience with analytical methods (e.g., titration, wet chemistry, particle size, ICP, XRF, etc.).
    • Familiarity with quality systems, regulatory testing, and laboratory best practices.
    • Experience with various adsorbent materials (e.g., activated carbon, ion exchange resins, advanced filtration media) a plus.
    • Familiarity with process scale‑up, pilot testing and validation.
  • Soft Skills
    • Strong problem‑solving and communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in cross‑functional teams.
    • Self‑motivated, organized, and detail oriented.
