Consultants in Emergency Medicine (Full-time or Part-time)
Salary Scale – £111,430 – £148,064 per annum pro rata.

Overview
NHS Forth Valley seeks to appoint enthusiastic and highly motivated individuals to join the emergency medicine team. The new appointments will join the existing permanent medical staff team of 15 Emergency Medicine Consultants, 3 Emergency Medical Practitioners and 5 Specialty Doctors, providing senior clinical decision making and leadership to Forth Valley’s Emergency Department.
NHS Forth Valley is undergoing a period of dynamic change in relation to the organisation of acute unscheduled care. This is part of a wider improvement plan which incorporates a new Flow Navigation Hub (FNH) and Urgent Care Centre (UCC) in line with Scottish Government directed service improvement changes and same-day emergency care. There may be opportunities for the interested candidate to have job‑planned sessions within this new service if interested.
Responsibilities
- Provide senior clinical decision making and leadership for the Emergency Department.
- Participate in the on‑site out‑of‑hours rota as part of normal job‑planned activity.
- Supervise and train junior medical and nursing staff (on‑site).
- Provide remote consultant support to a nurse‑led Minor Injuries Unit at Stirling Community Hospital.
- Engage with the Flow Navigation Hub and Urgent Care Centre as required.
- Contribute to the ongoing dynamic change and improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Full GMC registration and license to practice.
- Within 6 months of the anticipated award of CCT at interview time.
- For Portfolio pathway applicants: entered onto the GMC Specialist Register at time of application.
- Evidence of recent continued academic and professional development.
- Excellent communication, listening and organisational skills.
