We are recruiting for a growing specialist consultancy delivering expert support across Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions & Explosives (WOME) safety and High Hazard Facilities. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on major MOD and Defence programmes supporting critical national capability.

The Opportunity

You will join a growing consultancy team supporting a diverse and expanding defence client portfolio, helping deliver critical safety frameworks while building long-term customer relationships and supporting future business growth.
The primary focus of the role is supporting MOD Ship Explosives Safety programmes, alongside wider high hazard engineering and safety management activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver and maintain MOD contract frameworks across WOME safety and high hazard facilities
- Support MOD Ship Explosives Safety Case development
- Conduct Ship Explosive Threat Hazard Assessments
- Undertake WOME Ship Integration Threat Hazard Assessments
- Complete MOD Ship Magazine Material Assessment Surveys
- Support explosives safety residual risk management activities, including Risk Balance Cases
- Cost Benefit Analysis
- Contribute to MOD Ship Explosives Safety Certification activities
- Apply and interpret defence regulations and standards
- Produce high-quality technical reports and client documentation
- Build strong relationships with defence clients and stakeholders
Experience
Candidates will ideally come from a Defence, MOD, Military, Engineering Consultancy, or High Hazard background.
Essential experience includes:
- MOD Ship Class Explosives Safety Case development
- MOD Ship Explosives Safety Assessments
Strong understanding of:
- DSA 02 OME
- DSA 03 OME
- Defence Standards 00-56 and 00-101
Desirable Experience
- Hazard and risk analysis techniques including SWIFT
- Hazard and risk analysis techniques including HAZOP
- Hazard and risk analysis techniques including FMECA
- Hazard and risk analysis techniques including FTA
- COSHH, DSEAR, and ATEX assessment knowledge
- Experience supporting business development activities
- Membership of a relevant professional institution
Skills & Attributes
- Professional, organised, and adaptable approach
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent technical report writing ability
- Ability to manage workload independently and remotely
- Comfortable working within collaborative consultancy teams
- Willingness to travel across UK client and contractor sites, with occasional overseas travel
- Eligible to obtain UK Security Clearance (SC)
Salary & Benefits
Competitive salary £40,000 – £70,000
