This role requires a proactive supervisor who can analyse production issues, identify improvements and support continuous development across the department.

Key Responsibilities

Shift Leadership & Team Management

  • Lead and supervise a dedicated weaving production shift, taking responsibility for safety, quality, productivity and team performance.
  • Manage and support a team consisting of both experienced weavers and trainees, adapting leadership style to individual needs and experience levels.
  • Provide day‑to‑day coaching, guidance and performance feedback to ensure operational standards are achieved.
  • Build strong working relationships through visible leadership, consistency and fair decision‑making.
  • Identify training and development requirements within the team and support ongoing skills development.
  • Address attendance, conduct and performance issues professionally, working closely with the Production Manager where required.
  • Ensure effective communication across shifts, delivering thorough handovers to maintain production continuity.

Production Performance & Continuous Improvement

  • Take ownership of shift production targets, monitoring output, downtime, efficiency and quality performance.
  • Investigate and challenge the root causes of loom stoppages, production delays and operational inefficiencies.
  • Work closely with the Production Manager, Planning Team and Data Analyst to review performance data and identify trends.
  • Prioritise workloads in line with production schedules, customer requirements and operational demands.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on productivity, machine utilisation and process efficiency.
  • Support the reduction of non‑value‑added activities and promote a right‑first‑time manufacturing culture.
  • Contribute ideas and solutions to improve job changeovers, workflow and overall operational effectiveness.

Technical & Quality Oversight

  • Maintain a strong understanding of weaving operations, loom performance, cloth construction and manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure job changes, tie‑ons and first‑off inspections are completed correctly and meet required quality standards.
  • Monitor quality performance and support initiatives aimed at reducing second‑quality fabric and recurring production issues.
  • Work alongside technical specialists and maintenance teams to resolve process or machinery‑related concerns.
  • Provide hands‑on operational support when required, while maintaining a primary focus on supervision and leadership responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with all company quality standards, operating procedures and health & safety requirements.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Previous experience within a Production Supervisor, Shift Supervisor or Team Leader position within a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience within textiles, weaving, fabrics or similar production processes would be highly advantageous.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills with the ability to motivate and develop teams.
  • Good understanding of production KPIs, performance monitoring and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to identify root causes and implement practical solutions.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced production environment.
  • Strong commitment to health, safety and quality standards.

If you are an experienced production professional looking for a leadership role where you can drive performance, develop people and contribute to operational excellence, we would be keen to hear from you.
