Polytec is seeking a skilled Repair Fault Finding Engineer to join our client based a few miles north of Cambridge. You will be working for a growing technology organisation within a busy repair centre environment. This role focuses on diagnosing and repairing complex electronic equipment while supporting continuous improvement across repair processes.

Responsibilities

• Carry out detailed fault finding and repair at component and system level
• Diagnose complex, intermittent, and non‑standard faults
• Validate repairs using appropriate testing and verification methods
• Support development and improvement of repair procedures and methodologies
• Provide technical support and guidance to colleagues
• Contribute to root cause analysis and reliability improvements
• Maintain accurate repair records, documentation, and fault databases
• Collaborate with engineering, quality, and operations teams
• Ensure compliance with quality standards and health and safety requirements

Requirements

• Qualifications in Electronics Engineering (or equivalent experience)
• Strong component‑level fault‑finding experience
• Ability to interpret schematics and technical documentation
• Experience using diagnostic equipment (e.g. oscilloscopes, multimeters)
• Analytical approach to problem solving with high attention to detail

Desirable

• Experience with advanced PCB repair or BGA rework
• Knowledge of RF or wireless communication technologies
• Experience mentoring or supporting technical teams
• Use of ERP and repair tracking systems (e.g. Dynamics 365)
• IPC certification (e.g. IPC-7711/7721 or equivalent)
