Job Description:

This is a great opportunity to join a successful, established business who have a global presence with specialist material manufacturing sites strategically positioned across the UK, Germany, Brazil, and China.

They are looking for an enthusiastic and visionary Production Engineer to be a part of the evolution of the engineering team. Not only will you be looking at the existing equipment and processes you will have a key role in reinventing or introducing the new ones. Advanced automation is the future, so you will need to be self-driven and largely autonomous to create, find and implement new technology.

While their primary focus is Advanced Composite Machining, prior composite experience is not a prerequisite—on the job training will be provided to the right candidate. This role offers excellent work-life balance, including a half-day Friday and a generous holiday allowance of 25 days plus statutory days.

Key Responsibilities

  • Automation & Future Tech: Research external machining trends, perform cost/benefit analysis, and write CapEx justifications to introduce automated systems to the shop floor (i.e. Cobots).
  • Process Evolution: Shift repeating orders toward de-skilled, highly efficient processes.
  • Advanced Fixturing: Design and develop common tooling systems, modular fixtures, and single point workholding (Doosan, Hedelius, Berlotti).
  • CAD/CAM & Programming: Generate high-tier models, assemblies, and drawings on CAD, and prove out complex machining programs on CAM.
  • Collaborative Costing: Partner with customers, suppliers, and internal engineering teams to generate accurate product costings and resolve high-level technical issues.
  • Quality & Standards: Ensure all manufacturing processes comply with rigorous aerospace and automotive standards (AS9100, ISO9001, TS16949).
  • What Success Looks Like (KPIs):
    • On-time delivery of new customer products to exact specifications.
    • Measurable cycle time reductions and cost‑saving implementations.
    • Speed and accuracy in turning around technical quotations.
    • Successful deployment of new machining and automation concepts.

What You Bring to the Team

The Must-Haves:

  • Proven track record creating, setting, and fault-diagnosing complex CNC programs.
  • Masterful understanding of engineering drawings and tight geometric tolerances.
  • Experience navigating strict quality management frameworks (AS9100 / TS16949).
  • A safety-first mindset and a passion for driving a “right-first-time” quality culture.

Nice-to-Haves:

  • An inquisitive, analytical mind always looking for the “next big thing” in manufacturing.
  • Proficiency in SolidWorks for generating models, assemblies, and drawings.
  • Strong CAD/CAM proficiency.
  • Experience with Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
