About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Deputy Manager to join a children’s residential home supporting young people with emotional and behavioural needs. Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will play a key role in the day‑to‑day leadership of the home, ensuring high standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance are maintained. This is an excellent opportunity for a Senior Residential Support Worker or Team Leader looking to progress their career, or an established Deputy Manager seeking a new challenge. The successful candidate will be committed to achieving positive outcomes for children and young people while supporting the development of a skilled and motivated staff team. You will be joining an established home with 3 young people that are thriving in the home.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Registered Manager with the overall operation of the home
  • Deputise in the absence of the Registered Manager
  • Lead shifts and provide effective leadership to the staff team
  • Ensure compliance with Children’s Homes Regulations 2015 and Ofsted standards
  • Promote safeguarding and positive behaviour support practices
  • Support staff through supervision, mentoring, and performance management
  • Assist with recruitment, training, and staff development
  • Contribute to care planning, risk assessments, and placement reviews
  • Maintain accurate records and reports
  • Participate in the on‑call rota and undertake sleep‑ins when required
  • Work collaboratively with local authorities, families, education providers, and external professionals

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience within a children’s residential care setting
  • At least 1 year’s experience in a Senior Residential Support Worker, Team Leader, or Deputy Manager position
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding, childcare legislation, and Children’s Homes Regulations 2015
  • Experience supporting children with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD)
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Access to a vehicle with business insurance
  • NVQ/QCF Level 3 or Level 4 in Health & Social Care (Children & Young People) or equivalent

Desirable

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare
  • Experience working within homes rated Good or Outstanding by Ofsted
  • Experience supporting children with complex needs, CSE, or learning disabilities
  • Experience chairing meetings and producing high‑quality reports
