Locum Consultant in the department of Paediatric Nephrology
This is a 10PA locum appointment for a Locum Consultant Paediatric Nephrologist. The post will be available from September for a period of 6 months, based at Leeds General Infirmary. The post-holder will provide tertiary nephrology care and contribute to a 1:6 on‑call rota.
Applicants should hold accreditation in Paediatric Nephrology by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health or equivalent and be on the Specialist Register, or within six months of register admission for trainees. Established skills in paediatric nephrology are required.
Excellent communication, team working, teaching and service development skills are essential. Part‑time, full‑time and job‑share arrangements will be considered.
Main Duties
- Provide tertiary nephrology care to children across East Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, North Yorkshire and the Humber.
- Deliver acute on‑call service (currently 1 in 6) for a 6‑month period, including out‑of‑hours cover and ward rounds.
- Assist with renal transplantation, dialysis access and management, renal biopsy, imaging and renovascular angiography.
- Contribute to research, teaching and development within the paediatric nephrology team.
Qualifications
- Accreditation in Paediatric Nephrology by the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health or equivalent.
- On the Specialist Register or within six months of register admission for trainees.
Responsibilities
- Provide tertiary nephrology care and support the paediatric nephrology team.
- Provide 1:6 on‑call rota support and out‑of‑hours cover.
- Carry out specialist procedures such as renal transplantation, dialysis access, and imaging.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team for complex nephro‑urological conditions.
- Facilitate and contribute to ongoing clinical research programmes.
