This post presents an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to join a dynamic and highly regarded Elderly Medicine department.
The new Frailty Assessment Unit, the first of its kind in North West London to achieve all five of NHS England’s Acute Frailty service recommendations, offers acute front‑door frailty care in an eight‑bed assessment unit with direct pathways from community, LAS and ED. The post holder will work alongside a developing ACP and MDT workforce.
Responsibilities
- Manage 15 inpatients on the Hayes ward (30‑bed ward) together with a consultant colleague, and provide coverage for the Hayes and Franklin wards as required.
- Report to the Director of Unplanned Care at The Hillingdon Hospital.
- Work a 8.75‑hour PA post (six core PA hours in DCC and 0.75 PA hours in GIM on‑call) and support professional activities (SPA) covering service development, audit and personal CPD.
- Participate in the on‑call emergency medical rota on an approximately 1:21 basis (home on‑call 1900‑0700, on‑site ward round 0700‑0900, weekend on‑site 0700‑1900).
- Develop an area of expertise or special interest in Geriatric Medicine that meets the department’s service needs.
- Maintain responsibility for the care of patients in charge and the proper functioning of the department, and undertake administrative duties associated with patient care and clinical operations.
