Commercial Disputes Lawyer (Associate)

Location: Leeds

Salary: £55,000 to £70,000 + bonus and benefits

Experience: 1 to 3 years’ PQE

Our client is looking to recruit a junior Associate into its growing Commercial Disputes team in Leeds.

This is a great opportunity to join a high-performing disputes practice with national and international reach, where you’ll get strong exposure to complex commercial disputes and investigations work, alongside supportive development and clear progression as your career develops.

The Team You’ll be part of a commercial disputes group with strength across the UK and internationally, known for its commercial and innovative approach to resolving business disputes. The team deploys a mix of formal proceedings and alternative dispute resolution, including negotiation, mediation and adjudication, and works closely with non-contentious colleagues to understand the underlying transactions and deliver sensible outcomes.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting on a wide range of commercial and corporate disputes
  • Assisting with court and arbitral proceedings, and supporting on ADR processes including negotiation, mediation and adjudication
  • Helping to deliver commercially focused advice, aligned to client objectives
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across other practice areas and sector groups
  • Building your technical skills and taking ownership of workstreams with appropriate supervision
  • Contributing to excellent client service and supporting the development of client relationships
  • Getting involved in continuous improvement, including the practical use of technology to support efficient delivery

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales
  • 1 to 3 years’ PQE with relevant disputes experience, ideally gained in private practice
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • Clear communication style and a proactive, collaborative approach
  • Genuine interest in developing your technical skills and building a long-term career in disputes

Desirable

  • Experience of a broad range of dispute resolution processes, including ADR
  • Interest in how legal technology can support service delivery
