Advanced Clinical Specialist Occupational Therapist
Band 7
Location: Guild Lodge, Guild Park Town Preston.
Salary: £49,387 – £56,515 per annum. Contract: Permanent. Hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week. Reference: 351-BAY1013-SRP.
Main duties of the job
The post holder will be responsible for the assessment, treatment, planning, delivery and evaluation of evidence‑based, highly specialised occupational therapy intervention within the Forensic Inpatient Unit at Guild Lodge. They will support an effective journey for patients, leading the occupational therapy pathway from admission to successful discharge into the community.
This senior position requires balancing specialist occupational therapy provision with shared roles that enhance team efficiency.
The post holder will mentor and supervise junior occupational therapy staff, provide fieldwork opportunities for occupational therapy students, and contribute to learning for other team members or students from other disciplines.

Person specification
Education / Qualifications
- Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Master’s module/post‑grad qualification in a relevant clinical field (or working towards); or equivalent knowledge and experience to master’s level.
Knowledge
- Understanding of the clinical governance framework, including audit and research governance.
- In‑depth knowledge of current NHS/government policy, Public Health, NICE guidelines on organisational change and the ability to adapt these to local service needs.
- Knowledge of lone‑working risks – policy and procedure.
Experience
- Treatment of a broad range of conditions relating to clinical speciality.
- Demonstrable evidence of improving and developing service and practice.
Employer certification / accreditation badges
Approval for relevant UK professional registration is required.
