Overview
We are recruiting an Advanced Oncology Pharmacist – Distribution Service at Mount Vernon Cancer Centre, East and North Hertfordshire Teaching NHS Trust. The role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, band 8a with a basic salary of £57,528 – £64,750 per annum plus a 15% High‑Cost Area Supplement.
Responsibilities
- Apply specialist oncology knowledge to a designated patient group, developing and managing the pharmacist prescribing role under agreed clinical management plans.
- Promote the safe, clinically effective and cost‑effective use of medicines, providing expert advice on oncology pharmacy issues, including clinical, funding and prescribing matters.
- Manage the pharmacy distribution team, ensuring safe and effective storage and stockholding of all pharmaceuticals in the department.
- Contribute to the strategic vision for the pharmacy department and business plan in line with cancer centre and trust strategies.
Qualifications & Experience
- Masters Degree MPharm (or equivalent)
- Clinical qualification in oncology pharmacy
- Experience in a senior post, working at an operational level and leading service development and change.
- Evidence of extensive experience in service development and change, performance management and working across the healthcare community.

Knowledge
- Knowledge of the NHS Cancer Reform Strategy, the workings of specialised services and acute hospitals, wider issues surrounding NHS healthcare and commercial business.

Benefits and Working Arrangements
The role offers a 15% High‑Cost Area Supplement of the basic salary subject to a minimum payment of £4,870 and a maximum payment of £6,137 per annum pro‑rata. The position is full‑time, 37.5 hours per week on a permanent basis. The closing date for applications is 23/06/2026.
